“The
paintings in the exhibition ‘Recollections’ recall and collect
traces from past journeys; although many are of places where I have
never been. Some are inspired by places where I have spent time or
by distant memories but I’m never sure if I was really there. Others
are of places that I have imagined visiting or places that I may
visit soon. Often they are unsettled quiet places, in a
location-less state of mind.
Whether working with the medium of encaustic or oils, the
painting will often change and follow a path to an unknown
destination. This is the adventure that I find most rewarding.”
